Live-action and animation, blended for internal comms

The Opportunity
BP needed to encourage employees to actually use social media at work, both internally and externally on platforms like Twitter and LinkedIn, in a way that felt relatable rather than like a policy memo.
The Approach
-
Developed the idea — rejected the typical talking head or infographics associated with internal comms, and instead worked with the client to create five relatable characters that each represented a part of the wider business
-
Cast and directed the voice — cast and directed the voiceover artists who brought each character to life
-
Art directed and managed the animation — briefed and directed an animation studio, shaping how each character looked and moved, and managing the process through to final composite
The Result
An corporate comms piece employees actively engaged with, and a client thrilled with the outcome.
Over coffee, I'd tell you...
-
The idea was inspired by the Creature Comforts series by Nick Park and Aardman Studios
-
We spent half a day filming ten minute locked-off shots of empty chairs in the BP office — in silence, so we could grab atmosphere audio at the same time. We earned some strange looks.
