The Opportunity
Wayward wanted a physical presence in Marrickville's brewery-crawl scene — rather than open another taproom, we created something that would stand out from every other bar on the strip.
The Approach
-
Set the concept — chose a speakeasy over another taproom to lean into the brand's sense of adventure
-
Built the visual and verbal — designed a 'mini' brand with fun illustrations, wrote the taglines and personality that gave the space its charm
-
Delivered under pressure — this was a fast turnaround project, built whilst juggling creative output for three brands and four other venues
-
Built it to run without me — created a brand kit in Canva, with social and poster templates bar staff could use themselves, keeping everything on-brand without needing a designer involved every time
The Result
A venue that was totally different from the rest of the inner west brew scene, and served as a fun alternative to the main Wayward taproom in Camperdown. It received write ups from Broadsheet, Concrete Playground, Urban List, and Time Out.
